Top of Page

Although Oak Mesa has begun the 2020-2021 school year vitually, it is important than students attend school on time, participate, and stay for the entirety of the school day.  Below is information on Bonita Unified School District's attendance procedures along with attendance codes that will be used for the school year.  Please note that students who do not complete the full virtual learning day, will be marked accordingly.

FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS:

DAILY ATTENDANCE BY TEACHER
  • Attendance is marked daily in Aeries by each teacher based on each student's presence in the main synchronous (live) session for the day (the morning session)
  • If a student is not present at all for the entire session, mark the student as absent (select "A")
  • If a student is present, but only for a portion of the session, mark the student as partial participation (select "Q")

ABSENCE MANAGEMENT IN AERIES BY SITE OFFICE STAFF
  • Office staff indicate the reason for an absence (teacher marked an "A") using the list below
  • A student marked partial participation (teacher marked a "Q") is considered present and can remain as a "Q" in the attendance record
  • Types of absences
    • E Excused (verified by parent/guardian, Ed Code allowed reason)
    • G Tech Issue (verified technical/connectivity issue). Codes as excused absence
    • U Unexcused (verified by parent/guardian, reason not allowed per Ed Code)

ABSENCE VERIFICATION FROM FAMILY
  • An parent/guardian for the student is expected to notify the school each time a student is absent from the synchronous session for the day
  • This would be done primarily via email or phone to the secretary or clerk following procedures similar to regular operations

  • Family is contacted by site office per normal procedures for unverified absences
